Developed by the Lifting Solutions Group, The Lifting KnowHow app is a premium app for lifting professionals in Europe and gives the user instant support to use lifting equipment safely in the field. The app is focused on the use of slings and includes safe use instructions, a sling calculator, a tool to measure sling angles and load charts. You can also get contact info for your closest CERTEX, Erling Haug, Cables y Eslingas, Traction Levage or Mennens Group office as well as the latest news from the Lifting Solutions Group.

Features:

SAFE USE:
Safe use provides short instructions on the safe use of chain slings, wire rope slings, webbing slings, round slings and shackles. The app makes these accessible on your iPhone or iPad in the field. The texts and pictures are based on the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association’s (LEEA) pocket guide and follows all European standards and regulations. Please note these are not full user manuals and only short instructions on safe use.

LOAD CHARTS:
Gives you instant access to load charts and includes Chain slings - grade 8 and 10, Wire rope slings (fibre or steel core and 1770 N/mm2 /1960 N/mm2 tensile), Webbing slings and Roundslings. All are according to European standards and regulations. (Currently metric charts only)

MEASURE SLING ANGLES (Protractor):
Use your iPhone or iPad on the field to measure the sling angle by putting the device on the sling. Sling angles 0-45o and 45-60o are graphically indicated. Please note: measures the angle to the vertical according to European regulations.

SLING CALCULATOR:
Together with the Crosby Group a version of the Sling Calculator is included.
***WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO INTEGRATE THIS APP FULLY IN OURS SO IT REQUIRES A SEPARATE APP. THIS IS HOW IT WILL WORK FOR THE USER WHEN LAUNCHING THE LIFTING KNOWHOW APP AND THEN PRESSING CALCULATOR FOR THE FIRST TIME:
1. A info box pops up telling the user it will now download a separate app: Sling calculator free.
2. Next time the user clicks on calculator in the LKH app the sling calculator will launch. And all functionality is now available
3. It will mean the user will see both apps on his phone but it is only when launched via the LKH app and pressing calculator that all the functions are available for free.

For determining sling tensions, you can choose different sling configurations, specify the loads dimensions, directly specify or calculate the weight, and indicate the hitch parameters. The results are viewable in the app, and can then be emailed to you as a clear and concise printable PDF file, complete with a diagram and all of the loads dimensions, weight, and hitch information. You can choose between a 2-Leg Bridle, a 4-Leg Bridle, or a hitch with a Moveable Center of Gravity in a 2-Leg or 4-Leg Bridle configuration.

For computing the volume and weight of a load, you can choose between 9 different load shapes, indicating the dimensions and materials for each. Choose from over 50 common materials, or specify your own material properties. The Crosby Sling Calculator will compute the volume and the weight for the load.

By specifying your preferences when the app starts for the first time, or any time you are on the home screen, you can choose to work with the Crosby Sling Calculator in Feet and Inches, Decimal Feet, or Metric units, and indicate your preference for Horizontal Sling Angles (ASME) or Vertical Sling Angles (CEN).
